Winter Continues

I sure hope you aren't tired of seeing winter pictures yet, because that's pretty much all I have these days.  The kids had yet another school cancellation on Wednesday due to the eight or so inches of snow that we got.  Followed by rain, freezing rain, and sleet.  They're going to be making that day up in June when I'm sure they'd much rather be swimming or playing outside.

Alex and I weren't feeling well yesterday so we just stayed inside and snuggled.  However, this morning I was feeling much better so I ventured out to see what I could find.

The first thing I noticed when I stepped outside was how sparkly everything was.  The sun was glistening off the fresh coating of snow that we had gotten overnight.  It was absolutely beautiful!  When I took a closer look, I noticed individual snowflakes, so my macro lens and I set out to capture some.

I don't like this as well as the snowflake photos I shared last week.  Mainly, I think, because of the lack of color.  But I do like the iridescence of the snowflakes.  Thanks to the sun shining.

Honey and I then walked around to search for more cool stuff.  Which was no easy task.  Eight inches of snow under an inch-thick layer of ice, covered by another 1/2 inch or so of soft powder.  Well, let's just say that Honey wasn't sure what to make of it.  And she loves snow!

Her paws kept breaking through the ice and freaking her out a little.  Eventually she figured out that she needed to walk gingerly in order to not break the ice.  Not an easy feat for a 90-pound dog.  :)

While she was off sniffing out squirrels, I was doing my own exploration.  Many of the trees were still covered in ice and with the sun shining, there were sparkles everywhere.

Notice the tiny snowflake stuck to this little icicle?  Sweet!

This poor leaf was half buried in the snow.

We didn't venture too far since Alex was inside (still sick) waiting for us.  Perhaps another day we'll take a longer walk to see what other cool stuff we can find.

Winter has definitely been gorgeous this year! I can't seem to get enough of it. :)

I was noticing designs in the icicles and found them fascinating!

Never tired of your photos. Your pic of Honey is perfection. Our schools closed 3 days last week, but they will not have to make them up, which is great because no one wants to go to school in the South in June.
